Professor Osinbajo made the disclosure at a meeting of the Niger Delta Inter-Ministerial Committee held on Friday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. A statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, revealed that the Vice President’s chaired- committee also received reports of ongoing development projects being implemented in the region. Speaking about the engagement of teeming youths in the region, the Professor Osinbajo explained that the proposed refineries would help in employing them. The meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja which was chaired by the Vice President, when he received reports of ongoing development projects being implemented in the region. The statement said a total of 196 students have so far been accepted into the University to commence their academic programmes, while 76 applications still pending, in view the Buhari administration’s New Vision for Niger Delta. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has finally come out to talk about the forthcoming 2019 general elections and how it affects him. The Professor of law, said that he has no arrangement to challenge the 2019 presidential race and that he was comfortable running as the Vice to President Buhari. Osinbajo said this when he was asked at the Financial Times Africa Summit in London on the off chance that he had considered running. Osinbajo stated to Reuters that, "None of that is on the cards." It would be recalledd that Osinbajo had before repudiated a gathering known as Osinbajo Volunteers, which is crusading for his race as President in 2019. The VP 's representative, Laolu Akande, had requested that Nigerians neglect the gathering, adding that he didn't have anything to do with them.
Today by 3pm,the Acting President, Yemi Oinbajo will sign the 2017 budget into law by 3pm. The Special Adviser to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki on New Media, Bamikole Omisore, disclosed this via his social media handle @MrBanksOmisore. According to Omisore, Saraki, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara would join Osinbajo at the presidential villa for the signing of the budget. He said: “Today at 3:00pm Senate President @bukolasaraki will join AG @ProfOsinbajo for the signing of 2017budget at Presidential Villa in @AsoRock,” he wrote on his twitter handle. Recall that the National Assembly, NASS, had recently transmitted the budget to the Presidency for assent but reports had it that the Acting President was scrutinizing the document.
