Chairman, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Felix Hyat, has pronounced that states' chairmen of the party would oppose endeavor by any gathering to hold parallel convention on December 9. This followed a motion filed by Hon. Beni Lar, Plateau state, titled “Call to make Civic Education an optional instead of a compulsory subject for Senior Certificate Examination.” After an exhaustive debate on the motion, the members agreed that the policy was incongruent with the spirit and letters of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) on the provision of religious liberties. A high court in Minna on Monday 19/06/2017 remanded the Niger state Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, Tanko Beji, in prison till Friday when it will rule on his application for bail. However, the counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Gbolahan Latona (SAN), had opposed the application on the grounds that the offense for which the PDP boss was charged was not bailable by virtue of section 341 subsection 2 of the Criminal procedure code. Latona, however, said the court could use its discretion to grant the accused person bail. Earlier, the EFCC had formally charged Tanko Beji along with ex- Governor Aliyu and Umar Nasko who is the second accused person. Beji was arraigned on a count of aiding and abetting the former governor. He pleaded not guilty to the c
