The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has explained why the military was yet to rescue the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) lecturers, oil workers and women abducted by Boko Haram terrorists. According to Director of Defence Information (DDI), Maj.- Gen. John Enenche, the sect was using the captives as a shield. He noted that the troops could not apply full force to free them owing to the collateral damage that could follow such decision. Abubakar Bello the Governor of Niger State said that he has no confidence in Nigeria’s security agencies. He has proposed that traditional rulers should be given security votes to help in curtailing the increasing rate of crime in the country.
