Indications have emerged that the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party might move against Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State. During the latest National Executive Committee of the party, members of NEC discussed his matter at its 76th meeting which was held in Abuja on Tuesday. Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Sunday mocked the President Muhammadu Buhari administration for reabsorbing the wanted ex-Chairman of the defunct Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, despite being indicted for allegedly perpetrating fraud to the tune of N2bn. Maina is expected to run for governor of Borno State in 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. Ekiti State Muslims have asked Governor Ayodele Fayose to field a Muslim governorship candidate for the 2018 gubernatorial election in the state from his party, Peoples’ Democratic Party. The Chief Imam of Ekiti, Alhaji Jamiu Kewulere Bello, made the demand on Friday during the Eid-el-Adha prayer at the Muslims’ prayer ground along Poly Road in Ado-Ekiti. He pointed out that Ekiti had not produced a Muslim governor since the state was created 20 years ago. PDP leaders in the Southwest Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Monday resolved to set up a committee to punish fugitive senator Buruji Kashamu and other errant members. The zonal leadership revealed that it had cut ties with the senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly. The leaders condemned what they called Kashamu’s “destabilising and anti-party activities”, also called for disciplinary actions against him for his alleged roles in the party’s electoral loss in Ogun, Ondo and Edo states.
