I wrote the following piece, presented in italics, shortly after the postponement of the 2015 Presidential elections. It is important that the reader approaches it with an open mind, with an understanding of the context of its construction. The piece, titled “Buhari’s One Chance Campaign” never got published. One of my colleagues to whom I showed it advised against its publication. His point was that we should remain professional and not get involved in partisan politics. A member of our digital media team was so excited he wanted the article published. Anyhow, the older team member won the argument. But in the light of recent developments and the fortunes of the Buhari administration since 2015, the article has proved prophetic. In 2015, the Buhari campaign train was so hypnotic mo

Breaking, Politics
According to the Chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, Paul Unongo, ex Vice President Atiku Abubakar is the chief financier and most influential member of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, the apex body of Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria. “The most powerful person who finances the Miyetti Allah is Abubakar Atiku and he is a prince of the Tiv Court. The Tiv gave him a traditional title, meaning ‘the biggest shade of the Tiv people’. “This implies that the Tiv people should be able to run to Atiku who will protect them. This is the man who heads Miyetti Allah and is the greatest financier of this organisation. He has more cattle than anybody in Miyetti Allah. “It is an establishment of the big people, a very rich group of Nigerians and they pack small boys

Mbaka’s prophecy advising President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election  The fiery Enugu priest has warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to contemplate seeking for a second tenure in 2019. PDP Refuses To Learn From It’s Past Mistakes – Presidency

Breaking, Politics
The Presidency has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is yet to learn from its mistakes. It said PDP still engages in acts that made President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives (APC) emerge victorious in 2015. Garba Shehu, Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, said this while featuring on Channels Television. “The point I want to make is that many had thought that PDP would have picked out some lessons from the mistakes, from what led to the loss of the election in 2015″, he said. “They did the same game plan all over again and when you do the same thing all over again, it’s the same results that you’ll achieve. So that’s the point I’m making; nothing has changed.” The PDP had described Buhari’s New Year address as depressing. PDP

Atiku Vs Buhari: We Are Spoilt For Choice … By Joseph Edgar

It is beginning to look like the duo Buhari and Atiku would be the most likely contestants come 2019. Although it is looking likely that the PDP may field Kwankwaso, the bet is really on Atiku. So, if we are presented with these two old warhorses, then we are truly and really spoilt for a choice. Buhari and Atiku especially, Buhari, represents the old order. Buhari is ‘’establishment’’ having played a role in almost all governments since the ill-fated 1966 coup. He has led us twice both in military uniform and in civilian garb. Atiku on the other hand has been a recurring decimal in power equation as long as I can remember. Buhari has always come across as a strong but very disciplined difference among the power elite hence his continuous popularity amongst the people especially the nort

This weekend opens the Peoples Democratic Party’s national (elective) convention in Abuja. For weeks and months now following the victory of the Ahmed Markafi-led faction in the Supreme Court there has been high-wire politics and political intrigues trailing the convention. The stakes are as high as expectations for a new course to be charted by the foremost opposition party in the country. Positions are up for grabs including the National Chairmanship zoned to the south — the presidency having been zoned to the north. Concerted efforts are afoot by the founding fathers and godfathers of the party to ‘impose’ a consensus candidate on the delegates. Former President Goodluck Jonathan, former military President, Ibrahim Babangida and former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, are all pulling the

Following his withdrawal from the PDP National Chairmanship race slated to hold today at the Abuja Unity Square, Chief Olabode George has called on the Rivers State Governor to apologise to the Yorubas. Speaking on Friday, he said he "entered the race due to the micro zoning arrangement. This micro zoning has been trashed, dumped on the dust bin for personal reason. It appears that PDP is bent on self destruction. It has lost its soul. He also accused Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state for abusing the Yoruba people on a national Television when he said the South West has never contributed anything meaningful to the success of the PDP. “Governor Wike must tender an unreserved apology to the Yoruba people for his unguarded utterances against the Yoruba race. I listened to my young

In an exclusive interview with ORBITNEWS TV in Abuja on Tuesday, Hon Dimkpa said he was confident that, based on the unprecedented achievements of President Buhari in the last two and a half years, he would beat Atiku or any other presidential candidate mercilessly in 2019. He maintained that the President is the best thing that has happened to Nigeria in recent time, adding that if he had not won the 2015 presidential election, ...
