A Canticle For The Nigerian Youth

Bla~Bla~Blog
~Philemon Doro Adjekuko~ Injustice in the world makes me want to lose faith in humanity. But I won't because I am Young. Politicians say and do foolish things and make me want lose faith in my countrymen and women. But I won't bacause I am Young. Religious leaders, self proclaimed compass of good conscience, living off the poor makes me want to lose faith in God. But I won't because I am Young. My President saying most of us are lazy makes me want to believe I don't have a share in Nigeria. But I won't because I am Young. What inspires and defines me lies in a realm beyond all humans activities because I am Young.

Non, Monsieur Le Président!

Opinions, THE GRAMOPHONE
~Okiemute Orode~ No, Mr President, our youths are not lazy. If there is a group of people who can be described as absolutely lazy, it will be politicians like you in government who have been at the centre of this monumental charade called the biggest black nation in the world since independence. Mr President, please go back in time to 1960 with a measuring rod and map our progress from then till now. Sir, remind the youths of today what your predecessors promised back then.  Read the statement issued by the first coup plotters of 1966. Compare it to the one you and your co- travellers in the military made in 1983 and the one you and your colleagues in the APC made in 2015. Would you have the courage to tell the youths the difference if any? The damage you people have done to the

Looters’ List War: Stop, It Is Silly

Breaking, Opinions
For the sixteen years that the PDP was in power, the price of crude oil had a good run and the country was awash with cash. Sadly, instead of that giving birth to a massive infrastructural development as it would have been the case under normal circumstances, the country witnessed a monumental looting of its resources through direct stealing of public funds or the execution of phantom projects. The argument that the 2015 elections were more about a referendum on PDP than the whole-hearted acceptance of Buhari and the APC as a messianic group continues to hold true. No presidential candidate in recent memory drew so much scorn and personal attacks as Mohammadu Buhari during the 2015 campaign. But the frustration with then President Jonathan and his PDP chieftains was more potent than the p...

Adobe Causes Stir With Voice Manipulation Software

Technology
Report by Halima Gombe Photo editing company, Adobe, has sent tremors into the world of communication and legal practitioners with the preview of their state-of-the-art-voice manipulation software named Voco. The software is capable of analysing a voice in an audio or video clip in 20 minutes or less and can be used by anyone to make someone else appear to say what that person never said. And it would be almost impossible to tell whether or not the audio or video file is original or counterfeit. Communication experts say the software is a gift to fake news peddlers or blackmailers and it will hamper the credibility of journalists who depend on audio/virtual recordings to prove the authenticity of interviews. Lawyers also believe that the software will make it more difficul...
